Braves shoot for road series victory over Brewers
Baseball Betting Lines
05/11/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Braves need a victory tonight to record just
their second road series win of the season, as they continue a three-game set
against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
So far Atlanta's only road series win of 2010 came against the San Diego Padres from April 12-15 at Petco Park, and the Braves took the opener of this
series with the Brewers by an 8-2 score last night. Martin Prado belted a
grand slam during a six-run sixth inning and Troy Glaus also went deep for the
Braves, winners in six of their last 10 games.
"Tonight, we got some big clutch hitting," said Braves manager Bobby Cox.
"It's a pretty darn good hitter's park. But Tommy (Hanson) was great. They
didn't hit much of anything hard off him."
Hanson improved to 3-2 on the season and allowed just four hits and one walk
with eight strikeouts over eight shutout innings. Jesse Chavez gave up two
runs in the ninth inning before settling down to preserve the win. Rookie
sensation Jason Heyward did not play due to a groin injury and is day-to-day.
The Braves are 3-4 on a nine-game road trip and hope Tim Hudson can even their
mark on the swing when he takes the mound Tuesday night. Hudson has pitched
well in every outing this season and is coming off a no-decision against
Washington last Thursday. In a 3-2 loss at Nationals Park, Hudson fired seven
innings of two-run ball, struck out four and gave up five hits.
Hudson, a right-hander, is 2-1 with a 2.82 earned run average in six starts
this season and will face Milwaukee for the seventh time in his career. He
owns a 2-2 record and a 3.18 ERA in six career starts in this series.
Meanwhile, the Brewers lost for just the third time in nine contests with last
night's six-run decision in the opener of a six-game homestand. Brewers
starter Doug Davis had another rough outing and fell to 1-4 after giving up
six runs -- three earned -- on three hits and six walks in 5 2/3 innings.
"Walks are the only thing I'd like to take back," said Davis. "They hurt me
because I didn't give up many hits. I felt good going into the sixth, but one
mistake to Glaus got me out of my rhythm."
Casey McGehee had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI, while Prince
Fielder was the only other Milwaukee player with more than one hit, finishing
2-for-4 with a run scored. The Brewers will host Philadelphia for three games
after this set with Atlanta. In injury news for the club, center fielder
Carlos Gomez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury,
and will be replaced by Jim Edmonds and Jody Gerut. Edmonds went 1-for-4 last
night and Gerut struck out in his only at-bat.
Dave Bush will handle pitching duties for Ken Macha's club this evening and is
0-2 over his past three starts. Bush, who opened the 2010 campaign 1-0 with a
2.41 ERA in three starts, did not record a decision the last time out on
Thursday at Los Angeles. In the 7-3 loss to the Dodgers, Bush surrendered
three runs, one of which was earned, and four hits in five innings of work.
The right-hander has taken on the Braves three times in his career, going 1-0
with a strong 1.71 earned run average. Bush, though, is 0-1 in two home starts
this season.
Atlanta and Milwaukee split six matchups a year ago, but the Braves have won
four of the past five meetings in the series.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.
Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.
Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.
Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com.
