03/22/2010 -
Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich combined to score
13 straight points for Chicago down the stretch, as the Bulls held off a late
Houston charge to capture a 98-88 victory at the United Center.
Rose led all scorers with 27 points, handed out eight assists and grabbed
seven rebounds, while Hinrich was 4-for-4 from three-point range to end with
17 points.
Flip Murray converted 9-of-11 free throws, including four inside the final
minute, to contribute 18 points for the Bulls, who tumbled from the Eastern
Conference playoff picture with a 10-game losing streak snapped Saturday
against Philadelphia.
Taj Gibson totaled 12 rebounds, 10 points and five blocks, while Brad Miller
came up with 12 boards and 10 points as well to help Chicago halt a five-game
skid at home.
Luis Scola posted 22 points and 10 rebounds for Houston, which is also on the
outside looking in at a playoff berth in the Western Conference having dropped
two of three to follow a four-game win streak.
Trevor Ariza recorded 18 points, nine boards, five assists and three steals,
while Kevin Martin scored 19 points. Aaron Brooks struggled mightily to a 3-
of-17 showing from the floor to end with nine points as the Rockets
collectively shot 33.7 percent from the field.
A stretch of nine consecutive points for the Bulls early in the fourth quarter
opened up an 81-68 lead on Rose's runner with 7:11 left to play.
Rose and Hinrich went on to put in the next 13 points ending on the latter's
three-pointer with 56.2 seconds remaining to help the hosts retain a 92-86
advantage.
Brooks caught fire late and cashed in on all three of his field goals over the
final 6 1/2 minutes, including a three-ball that made it a one-possession game
with 1:41 on the clock.
However, Rose pulled up for a jumper and Hinrich's three extended the lead,
which went unchallenged inside the final minute as Murray sank four at the
line and Miller the last two putting a wrap on the win.
The Bulls held down a 30-29 edge after the opening 12 minutes, but found
themselves down five, 53-48, at halftime after the Rockets put in the final
five points of a closely contested second quarter.
Chicago slipped back in front early in the third and later established a 13-
point lead with a 10-0 run that saw five points from Rose. Houston cut the
deficit to 72-66 by closing with the final seven points of the quarter.

awkwardly and rolled his left ankle late in the fourth. Neither returned to
the game...Chicago commenced a three-game homestand Monday with dates against
the Heat and Nets still to come. The Bulls moved to 20-14 at the United Center

NFL Football Trash Talk
Trash talk has a place in every competitive endeavor (except baseball; those stirrup-wearers are too busy chewing on their sunflower seeds and their supplements to worry about what their opponents are doing).
Fantasy sports is no exception. Any intelligent discussion of the subject
would probably start with a thesis statement or a definition of terms.
Thankfully, this wont be an intelligent discussion.
Let me just say that I am happy to take a place in this space alongside my talented colleagues, even our commissioner. (You should see how she bleats like a demented paper boy about league fees on our fantasy site).
Trash talking, I would argue, is primarily about amusing your friends,
their sheeplike demeanors and sloping foreheads notwithstanding. The best place I have found for football trash talking is at www.SportsAlarm.com.
Beyond the entertainment factor, though, I would recognize that the
sophomoric ritual has one advantage, when properly applied. It magnifies
your fantasy triumphs and mitigates your fantasy failures by transforming
the eventual point total into an afterthought. Winning makes it seem like
your opponent really is a truss-owning, lapel-pin-wearing nitwit. And in
defeat, trash talk can be the air bag to break the fall from your
hyperbolic heights. The plug-necked yahoos on your team, you can say,
will be sacking groceries by the end of the season.
The best trash talk, in my view, is layered and nuanced. And it doesnt
focus only on your opponents team. It picks apart your opponent. The idea
is to create a shock-and-awe-scale blizzard of nonsense, and the goal is to
make your opponent drop his hands from his keyboard in exasperation.
What team does your opponent root for? Accuse a Giants fan of having a Joe Namath pillowcase. Wheres your opponent from? Give a look of concern no matter his reply, then say, I'll try to type slower for you next time. Is your opponent into politics? Label everyone a tax-and-spend corporate shill.
Cap all that with a liberal application of irrelevance. For instance, dont just conclude by saying your opponent is a twerp who drafts like my grandmother. Say that your opponent is a sweater-wearing, eyebrow-plucking twerp who drafts his team about as well as Zsa Zsa Gabor gave acceptance speeches at the Oscars. By the time your foe makes sense of that, his starting running back will have had puppies.
But what about you? Hmm? Recall a memorable slam? Have a tried-and-true technique? Know someone who seems impervious to insult? Take a moment and tells us about it. Put together some (fit-for-publication) thoughts. You wont be too busy returning phone messages from your friends, Im sure, to reply.
In addition to the trash talking, the Sports Alarm has a huge gallery of high resolution pictures of beautiful women and models in bikinis. The most popular models are: Lindsay Lohan, Carrie Underwood, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Paris Hilton.
