Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rasual Butler scored 20 points and the Los Angeles Clippers put together back-to-back wins for the first time in more
than a month with a 98-94 triumph over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Chris Kaman tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers, who last won
two in a row January 18 and 20 against New Jersey and Chicago. This was their
third win in the last 13 games.
Drew Gooden and Travis Outlaw each scored 10 in their LA debuts since being
traded last week. It was the first game for Outlaw in more than three months.
He was sidelined with a broken foot.
"We shared the ball. We were able to make big plays and made some big stops
down the stretch," Gooden said. "We could have easily folded, but we didn't."
Baron Davis chipped in 10 points and 10 assists for the Clippers. He missed
the previous two games due to a sore lower back.
Stephen Jackson had his worst performance of the season for Charlotte, going
1-of-16 from the field for seven points before fouling out with 2:08
remaining.
Gerald Wallace totaled 32 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats, who lost
their second in a row. Boris Diaw narrowly missed a triple-double with 20
points, nine boards and nine assists for Charlotte, which wasted a six-point
lead with 5 1/2 minutes left and fell into a tie with Milwaukee for the eighth
and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
"We got some bad breaks. It's tough in a close game," Bobcats coach Larry
Brown said. "Jack was frustrated, and I don't blame him, but you can't let
people frustrate you."
Diaw's driving layup extended the visitors to an 85-79 cushion, but the
Clippers finally pushed back in front at 89-87 as Davis' pair of free throws
followed a Butler tying three-pointer.
Diaw's runner in the lane tied the game with 1:52 left, but Kaman drilled two
free throws for the go-ahead points.
Missed three-pointers from Diaw and Raymond Felton ensued and Eric Gordon
knifed into the lane for a bucket and a 93-89 edge with 43 seconds to go.
The Bobcats eventually pulled within three at 97-94 on a Wallace three-ball
with 9.3 ticks to go, but Steve Blake made the second of his free throw
attempts to seal the victory.
LA led 30-23 after one quarter and the hosts pushed that to 13 in the second
before going to the locker room with a 53-50 edge.
Charlotte used a 16-5 run to grab a 70-65 lead with under four minutes left in
the third. The Bobcats led 74-71 moving to the fourth.
Game Notes
Charlotte had won the previous four meetings...The Bobcats fell to 7-21 on the
road...Tyson Chandler (foot/ankle soreness) and Nazr Mohammed (back spasms)
missed the game for Charlotte...Gordon had 11 points...Theo Ratliff and Tyrus
Thomas both netted 10 for the Bobcats...The Clippers held a 48-34 rebounding
