Celtics hope to get back on track vs. Bobcats

Basketball Betting Lines

03/03/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Boston Celtics have lost two in a row as the host and will try to regain homecourt supremacy tonight versus the Charlotte Bobcats at TD Garden.

Boston is 16-11 in Beantown this season and split six games at home last month. It put the brakes on a two-game slide with a 105-100 victory at Detroit on Tuesday, as Ray Allen finished with 18 points and Rajon Rondo chipped in 15 points and 11 assists to lead the charge. Boston welcomed back Paul Pierce from a three-game absence because of a thumb injury, and the All-Star scored nine points for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics.

Kevin Garnett registered 14 points and nine rebounds, while Nate Robinson also scored 14 points in a winning cause.

"We want to wind him up and let him go," Boston coach Doc Rivers said of Robinson, who was acquired from New York before the trade deadline. "Bottom line is he is a scorer and that is what we want him to do."

Celtics center Kendrick Perkins missed Tuesday's game with flu-like symptoms and is questionable for tonight. Boston is fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, just a half-game behind the Atlanta Hawks.

The Bobcats are back on the road after suffering am 89-84 home loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday at Time Warner Cable Arena. Stephen Jackson totaled 20 points and seven rebounds for Charlotte, which wasted a 12-point lead in the third quarter and lost for the fourth time in five contests.

Tyrus Thomas added 16 points and 12 boards in defeat, as the Bobcats failed to build off a win at Memphis on February 26.

"This whole game was disappointing," Jackson said. "We played scared. We didn't compete, we didn't play hard. We didn't go into this game feeling like we could win it. It seems like we gave up early."

It was Charlotte's first game since Bobcats owner Robert Johnson reached a definitive agreement to sell a majority interest of the club to Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. The Bobcats, who are a half-game behind Miami for the final postseason spot in the East, went 1-3 on a recent four-game trek and are 8-22 as the visitor this season.

Boston is 2-0 against the Bobcats in 2009-10 and has won three straight and 15 of the 20 matchups between the teams. Charlotte is winless in its previous three trips to the New England area.
