Iowa knocks off Rutgers in first round

Jaime Printy and Kamille Wahlin netted 15 points apiece in the win for Iowa (20-13). Morgan Johnson and Kelly Krei contributed healthy efforts as well, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Brittany Ray led Rutgers (19-15) with 15 points, while Chelsey Lee scored 14 points. Myla McCurdy and Khadijah Rushdan each added 11 points in the loss.

The Hawkeyes took a 28-21 advantage into the intermission despite shooting just 36.4 percent from the field in the first stanza.

Iowa was able to gain the victory behind terrific shooting from beyond the arc, sinking 8-of-12 from three-point range in the second half.

The Hawkeyes now advance to take on the winner of the UC-Riverside/Stanford matchup.

Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
